TRAVEL TALK RADIO
By Maggie Espinosa, Presidio Sentinel

To say Sandy Dhuyvetter has "joie de vivre" is to merely touch on the dynamic personality of this radio host. Two days a week she brightens the airwaves with her travel show - Travel Talk Radio. Interestingly so, one of her shows is via the Internet. On Thursday mornings from 9AM-11AM, Sandy master minds her one-woman show from a small studio in Carlsbad, California. Her mission, to be a catalyst who creates an industry between travel agents and travelers. Listeners world-wide log onto www.Traveltalkradio.com and join Sandy for a morning of travel information, tidbits and engaging conversation with guests.  Sunday morning listeners can tune their radios to KFMB-AM and hear her as far north as Santa Barbara while she broadcast a live talk show from 7AM-9AM.

Two-thousand-and-one was a busy year for Sandy. She began her KFMB radio career in December on the heels of deploying her Internet show in August. With a strong computer background, Internet was the logical way to go. Having worked in the Web community since 1994, she segued into Internet radio with ease. Although she makes it look effortless, multitasking is imperative before and during her shows, requiring her to spend seven days a week gathering sponsors, updating the Web site and assembling guests for upcoming shows. Being extremely confident and knowledgeable, Sandy knows what presently drives the industry. Great with ad-libs and a talented conversationalist, she darts questions at her guests while she touts their Web site. Amazingly, her guests all possess fun personalities; I surmise they feed off the host.

Travel Talk Radio topics are well rounded and can run the gamut from travel law to motion sickness medication. Each segment is 18-20 minutes in length with four minutes of commercials in between. Being one of 30 Internet shows on wsradio.ws, Sandy uses her two hour show as an educational tool, constantly walking listeners through the necessary steps required to follow along. Engaging her audience seems only natural to this energetic individual who smiles while she talks into the microphone. "Do you think we should change our name to Travel Talk Radio?" she poses, only enhancing the rapport she already has with her attentive travel enthusiasts. It's no wonder Travel Talk Radio is rated number one by Arbitron and receives 380,000 hits per month on the Web site.

Now more than ever we need a show whose creed states that "if we live in harmony with the world, world peace is possible." Thanks to Sandy Dhuyvetter, Travel Talk Radio assists us in finding harmony through travel.
